Inspired by ER and Grey’s Anatomy, I was certain that I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. That dream changed in high school when I realized how many more years of school were required and that not all doctors look like George Clooney or Derek Shepherd. I grew up in the small town of Roanoke, Virginia where there are high poverty levels, high unemployment, and very little education on personal finance. I’ve personally seen how a positive mindset, a structured plan with defined goals, and handholding from a financial planner can turn things around for those in a rough situation. Those experiences were my motivation to work in the financial planning industry and I have been a member of the Erickson Advisors team since 2014.
While I don’t have decades of experience under my belt, I am a fast learner and have a thirst for knowledge that has helped me adjust quickly to this constantly evolving industry. Being an analytical thinker, I like approaching problems and complex situations from many different angles and working through each scenario to find the best solution. Everything I do in life is through a systematic approach and I use that at work to make sure that things are done right the first time. I love working with numbers and having those to back up solutions so I know they aren’t based solely on emotion and are feasible.
I get extreme fulfillment in working with a client’s complicated situation and helping them consolidate, work through a complex process with many steps, and organize and simplify their lives. I want them to feel like they have a personal manager that is “minding the shop” so they don’t have to think about their accounts or financial future once they step out of our office. Not every client comes to us with the sole goal of achieving high investment returns. Those that want and need help holistically are behind the passion I have for my work and help me look forward to coming into work each day.
Outside of the office, you can usually find me doing home improvement and DIY projects. I also love hanging out with my Cairn Terrier, Bo, going to Zumba classes, and attending any and all Virginia Tech sporting events. I am a huge fan of all sad drama or war movies/TV shows that can make me cry.
